Choose the structure
Which format fits your card game?
Start with how players set up, play and put the game away. Card count, rules and storage should work as one product.
| Decision | Single-deck game | Multi-deck game | Sleeve-ready edition |
|---|---|---|---|
| Choose when | Cards share one draw pile or a simple sorting system. | Roles, resources or stages need distinct groups. | Players are expected to sleeve cards or add expansions. |
| Rules format | A folded sheet for short setup and turn instructions. | A booklet when players need diagrams or reference sections. | Sheet or booklet, with a defined storage position. |
| Storage plan | Tuck box sized around the finished deck and rules. | Dividers or an insert matched to each deck. | Box and insert tested with the specified sleeve size. |
| Confirm first | Total physical cards, including repeated designs. | Card IDs, back artwork and quantity for every group. | Sleeve outer dimensions, loaded stack height and any expansion allowance. |
Sleeves, extra components and future expansion space are not included automatically. List them in your brief.

Decisions worth making early.
Budget, stock and delivery
Price the complete game, not one card.
Compare the same number of complete sets, with cards, rules, sorting and packaging clearly included. Request samples and freight as separate lines where they are not included in the unit price.
Project questions
Before you order.
Practical answers on pricing, files, finishes and packing.
Ask a questionWhat affects card game printing costs?
The complete set determines the price: order quantity, cards per set, stock, size, unique backs, finishing, collation, rules and packaging. A standard 54-card poker deck price is not a price for a multi-deck game with a rulebook and rigid box. Ask for optional upgrades as separate quote lines.
How do I count the cards in one set?
Count copies, not just artwork files. For example, 40 action designs printed twice, 10 character cards and 2 reference cards make 92 cards in one set. For multiple decks, supply a separate list for each deck and a final packing list.
Can I quote before the artwork is finished?
Yes. Send your estimated quantity, cards per set, dimensions and packaging idea. Mark undecided stock or finishes as options. AI-assisted artwork is welcome when you have the rights to print it; supply final print-ready files for production review.
What can a digital proof confirm?
A digital proof helps check artwork placement, text, card sequence and front/back matching. It does not confirm stock feel, opacity, reflective finishes or box fit. Sample method, cost and schedule are agreed before sampling.
Are boards, dice or tokens included?
Not automatically. List non-card components separately for feasibility and pricing review. The final quote and packing list must identify everything included in the retail set.
