Choose back-only customization for branded playing cards that retain familiar suits and ranks. Choose full-deck customization when individual card faces carry your artwork or content. Full customization requires more file and sequence review; the price difference is quoted for the project rather than calculated using a universal percentage.

Files needed for back-only custom poker cards
- One print-ready card-back file on the supplied card dieline.
- Confirmation of the standard face style and joker requirement.
- One tuck-box artwork file if a printed box is selected.
- A reference image showing which edge is the top of the back design.
A mirrored or rotationally symmetric back is safer for normal poker use because players cannot identify card orientation. If your design has a clear top and bottom, mark it in the reference PDF so the back is imposed consistently with every face.
Files needed for a fully customized 54-card deck
- Fifty-four face files, or one multi-page PDF in the exact production sequence.
- One card-back file, with any alternate backs clearly identified.
- A deck manifest listing every expected card name and file name.
- A low-resolution contact sheet for visual sequence checking.
- Separate packaging artwork on the factory box dieline.
A file-naming system that prevents missing cards
Use two-digit numbers so folders sort correctly. A conventional poker deck can follow 01-AS, 02-2S … 13-KS, 14-AH and finish with two named jokers. For educational or story decks, use 01-title, 02-topic-name and keep the same names in the manifest. Never rely on “final-final-2.pdf” as version control.
Which option should you choose?
Choose light customization when brand visibility, fast artwork approval and lower complexity matter most. It is well suited to event giveaways, hospitality use and promotional merchandise. Choose full customization when the card faces are the product: an artist deck, training tool, conversation deck, learning deck or game system.
Both options can use white core, blue core, black core or PVC. The card stock decision affects opacity, stiffness, shuffle feel and price independently of the artwork level. Review the playing card product options before building your quote.
Approval checklist for either option
- Confirm finished size, corner radius and card count.
- Check every back and face at 100% view for bleed and safe zones.
- Verify that the top direction is intentional.
- Approve the packaging copy, barcode and legal marks separately.
- Record the final proof revision and do not replace files after approval without a new review.

Can I customize only the backs of poker cards?
Yes. A custom back with standard poker faces is the simplest option for branded, hotel, club and promotional decks.
Can all 54 playing cards have different artwork?
Yes. Supply 54 correctly named face files or a sequenced multi-page PDF, plus the card back and a deck manifest for checking.
Why does full-deck customization cost more?
The printing area is not the only cost. Full customization adds file handling, preflight, sequence checking and proof review for every individual card.
Can I order fewer than 1,000 custom poker decks?
The current Max Deck Print bulk quotation workflow starts at 1,000 decks. A paid physical sample can be produced before the bulk order is approved.
